Is this an effort to subconsciously make it more exciting

I'm trying to think of something positive but that really is the worst thing ever, it's the what's left in the 99p cutout box that no one ever buys festival.I suspect line ups like this had far more to do with the onset of punk than anything Malcolm Maclaren ever did.

I hope the weather was nice.

It was indoors at Olympia on New Years Day and less than half full with the sound booming round the place. Man were supposed to play but got bumped for the dismal BJH. The first and last days line ups were pretty good (apart from the execrable Charlie) but they weren't giving tickets away for those!

This review is remarkably prescient given what was coming down the tracks ...

"And as their (BJH's) act slowly slid through the floorboards my yawns were punctuating every other bar. However, the most alarming realization was yet to come. If this was the Great British Music Festival to open '76, what the hell is the worst going to be like?"

Scroll a little way down for the rest of Tony Stewart's review
