Field Music/Warm Digits - BBC3 Session
Lovely, nice orange cover too.

The Heads - Radio 1
Heavy and brilliant!

Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats - Blood Lust
Blimmin marvellous.

Transllusion - Don't Be Afraid of Evolution
Meaty beaty big and bouncy.

Lumerians - S/T
Splendid! Really acidic rock sound, love it. Can't stop playing this and Uncle Acid.

Carlton Melton - Smoke Drip
Langorous and trippy.

Black Bombaim - Titans
Heavy and rocking double album from Portuguese bunch. Another one I've listened to over and over this week.

White Hills - Frying On This Rock
Still my fave release of the year so far.

Kevin Ayers - Harvest Years
I'm really into K.A. now, don't know why I wasn't before. Great collection this.

Teeth of the Sea - Orphaned By The Ocean
Hot hot vibes and dubby sounds, really suit the sultry weather.

Ty Segall - Slaughterhouse
RAAA! Rock and roll.

The Cravats in Toytown
Remastered double CD set. Makes me grin :-)

Spirit of '76
Classic. If you don't know it, get it.

White Manna - S/T
Great acid rock sound.

Parson Sound - S/T
New to this lot and liking it a lot.

Rush - Clockwork Angels
Liking this more and more. A lot of depth.

A brilliant year of music continues!
Cheers folks.

Been listening to a lot of Willie Nelson this week. Was listening to an interview with Paul Williams where he mentioned Stardust, which got me digging it out. Great collection of covers. However, the Willster's strength is definitely in his own songwriting. So, I kinda dipped into various compilations and stuff on Spotify across the week. Must've listened to Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain about 20 times. It's such a killer

V/A - Twisted Willie
Covers comp to help Mr Nekson with his tax 'issues'. The Reverend Horton Heat's take on Hello Walls is worth the price of entry alone

OST - The Harder They Fall
Jimmy Cliff all over the place due to the 40th anniversary of this film. TBH, his parts are the weakest on here. But, even they're awesome

What Will We Be - Devendra Banhart
Devendra sounds less like a young Bolanic pixie on this on this one. Rats is a bit Led Zep-ish, whilst tracks like First Song For B are pretty damn gorgeous.

One Day I’m Going To Soar – Dexys
Like Kevin Rowland’s much-maligned 90’s covers LP, My Beauty, this treads a thin line between ridiculousness and greatness. One minute I’m wishing they hadn’t come back, the next I’m loving it!

WIXIW – Liars
This is very different to Sisterworld. There’s a lightness of touch that gives it an almost ethereal feel and though it sounds like it’s just floating past I could tell from the first listen that some of these tunes are really going to register.

The Integral – Mother Of Six
Doomy Sabbath-like rock band from Wrexham with a singer who wails rather than screams (more Ozzie than Plant, say!) over those heavy riffs.

Tokyo 2006 - Rolling Stones
A bit of a perfunctory latter-day run-through some of their golden back-catalogue (and some lesser moments). Mick sounds tired on Gimme Shelter.

Loony As August On A Drunken Baboon – T.Rex
Bits and pieces collection of unreleased stuff inc some live and telly performances. Also includes All My Love which Bolan really should have released.

Also...
Ersatz GB – The Fall
Mazes – Moon Duo
Early Years – Mungo Jerry
New York ’88 / Phoenix ’94 – Iggy Pop
Superstition – Siouxsie & The Banshees
Cruelty Without Beauty – Soft Cell
Dusty... Definitely – Dusty Springfield
On Patrol – Sun Araw
His Eye Is On The Pyramid – 13th Floor Elevators
Kung Fu Super Sounds – V/A
Dos - Wooden Shjips

It makes me angry for The Proclaimers' arrangements all over again.

Love the big soul revue ending, but it only highlights that there's not enough of that throughout the album. But, yeah, I like it too

The Congos - Heart of the Congos

Belbury Poly - The Belbury Tales

Matt Elliott - The Broken Man (This has really grown on me...)
