Re-reading "Brothers In The Head" and Colin Wilson's "Occult" over Christmas has narrowed my field of listening a bit though all these sounded pretty great in the quietest week of the year ....

Gurdjieff Sacred Hymns - Keith Jarrett
ReFracted! The Making Of Afraid Of Sunlight - Marillion
That Which Passes - Soundscapes Vol. 3 - Fripp
Tabula Rasa (ecm album) - Arvo Part
Queen Elizabeth 2 Elizabeth Vagina - Cope
At The End Of Time: Churchscapes in England & Estonia - Fripp
Sketches For Lost Summer - Untied Knot
Zuckerzeit / Sowiesoso / Cluster II - Cluster

and still enjoying this for what it is rather than as the "next big thing" ....

Alabama Shakes EP

What is kind of bizarre is that the singer increasingly reminds me of Carole Pope from Rough Trade and there is one track that sounds for all the world like "Soul Rebels" era Dexys while the guitar player can't decide if he is in Kasabian, the E Street Band or Booker T and the MGs. I am growing to love their "Aftermath" meets "Hatful Of Hollow" via "The Southern Harmony And Musical Companion" sound.
