Real staying power for me this one.

Have you got 1 and 2 yet?!

And speaking of epic trilogy's I noticed Oneida's Rated O on your list - is this recommended? I've not delved into oneida but read the optical sounds interview and would like to investigate further!

No, I haven't got 1 and 2 yet. I'd really like to hear them.

As for Rated O I think it is bloody great, although not entirely what I expected. The first CD is kind of skewed dance music, and the 2nd CD contains some really brilliant rock/indie stuff, and finishes with lots of shouting. Third one is different too. A wild ride, and only a tenner for 3 CDs. I love it.

The only other Oneida I've got is the recent split with Mugstar which is just wonderful. One of my faves of the year. I really want to investigate them more.

Two of my favourite records of the year:
Bong - Beyond Ancient Space
Datashock - Pyramiden von Giessen

Been a S. American themed weekend:
Holydrug Couple - Awe http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6FsoVnM9qA
Watch Out! - Flashbacker
Follakzoid - Trees: http://www.youtube.com/watch?gl=SG&feature=related&hl=en-GB&v=BrzbH9uqSaA
Serpentina Satelite - Mecanica Celeste

White Hills - Hp1 (actually, another fave of the year!)
Eternal Tapestry - Beyond the 4th Door
Black Tempest - Secret Astronomies & Proxima (gearing up for the triple album)
Barn Owl - Lost in the Glare

I gotta get that Bong CD. I've got Gilgamesh, which is kind of OK, but from the sounds of it Beyond Ancient Space could be right up my street.

I'm quite touched that people are still enjoying Secret Astronomies and the Proximas btw - thanks!

How could I forget Mmoss' "i" album? I've had it on my iPod solidly this last week. Lovely album.

had the Modern Lovers on myself this week but mine was Precise Modern Lovers Order the early live compi that's Longbranch Saloon plus. Pretty great cd if you can still get it.
I love the 1st studio lp too. Finally got a physical version again this summer though mine is part of the Sanctuary 2cd compi.name of which eludes me at mo. Has the first 2lps plus singles on first disc tho presumably later lps on the other. Cant check right now cos not at home.
There's a good bio of JR called There's Something About Jonathon that i picked up from FOPP a couple of years back fr 2quid i think. Plus they're covered in From The Velvets to The Voidoids aren't they.
Jerry Harrison's droning keyboards are pretty sublime. The mix of VU/Stooges influence too
