Highlight of the week was a day at the Minimal Festival yesterday, mostly themed around Phillip Glass. Bang On A Can performed some of the early 'hard core' works which I thought sounded great in contrast to all the 'typical PG soundtrack' stuff that he has put out in recent years. Other highlight was the Smith Quartet playing all five string quartets. Gave his violin concerto thing a miss in the evening as it was paired with The Four Seasons which I don't think I need to hear again. Instead headed for City Halls and a live broadcast of Scelsi, Cage, Skempton and Cardew. Highlight was a rare performance of Cardew's Paragraph 3 of The Great Learning. Quite something to experience. Other spins: Wild Flag - s/t Magazine - No Thyself. Only one listen so far so too early to say but sounds promising. Easily worst cover of the year so far though. Max Roach - Members Don't Git Weary John Klemmer - Blowin Free (Pete Cosey plays on this). Remember Remember - The Quickening The Lappetites - Beyond the Libretto Eno - Here Come the Warm Jets Peter Hammill - The Silent Corner and the Empty Stage Teenage Fanclub - Bandwagonesque Sun City Girls - 330,003 Crossdressers from Beyond the Rig Veda Have a great week all.

Master Musicians of Bukkake - Totem 3 Real staying power for me this one. White Hills - S/T Hadn't played this for a while, what a stormer. Lovely silvery cover too :-) Otherwise, much the same as last week. Still loving the Mugstar/Oneida Collisions record. A cracker. Neil Young - Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere Thought I'd better start getting hold of some of NY's early stuff that I haven't got. Cave - Neverendless Psychic Ills - Hazed Dream Oneida - Rated O White Hills - H-p1 Opeth - Heritage Deep Purple - Come Taste the Band Dio - The Last In Line Judas Priest - Sin After Sin Oh, and the pre-order d/load tracks from Solus3's Corner of the World are really delightful, can't wait to hear the whole thing!

Hi Fitter - I notice you mentioned Nils Lofgren's S/T album. I don't suppose you've got Cry Tough on CD have you? I've been trying to get a copy recently but can't seem to find it at a decent price. About time it was properly remastered and re-released really. If you have got it I'd really appreciate a burn...will swap for something else if you like.
