You might also dig another proto-punky Swedish band from the same era, Gudibrallan. You've gotta at least like a band who dress in drag as a bride and bridesmaid on their album cover. T-Doja

I must admit to only picking up the Destroyer stuff recently - I did get Destroyer's Rubies for a few pounds a few years ago as it turned up in a list of stuff liked by an American lady who friended me on Facebook after liking some reviews/mistaking me for the new Simon Reynolds (Spoon's Gimme Fiction was another top recommendation). Apparently Your Blues was influenced by Nite Flights, which if I knew that earlier I'd have bought ages ago. Got a copy of Trouble in Dreams for £3 on amazon, which I assume is the LP some reviewer described as "Astral Weeks by Pavement"...it's on the way. I love his stuff in the New Pornographers too, particularly on Mass Romantic...

Loving the first two Suede reissues, have the third one but not in that much of a pop mood these days...Sadly I only saw them twice, the first time was around the time of The Drowners at the Windsor Old Trout (supported by the Auteurs) and the second a bit after Coming Up came out. Both really good...but for some reason never saw them again...was tempted by the stuff in London earlier this year. Can't they come and play to the nation? I was hoping for a "victory lap" tour in the Autumn...

I have never heard of Råd Kjetil And The Loving Eye Of God - sounding like good droning from what I am hearing ATM.

Can - Tago Mago

Hans-Ola Ericsson - Baltic Organ Music (check out the piece 'Pastorales for Summer Flute' by Zemzaris... staggeringly lovely! IIRC it's on Spotify, but mis-tagged...)

Franco Battio - Sulle Corde di Aries (1973, lovely mix of electronics, folky instrumentation and passionate singing - seems to have flown under my radar until now)

Family - Music in a Doll's House (How good is Peace of Mind?! Shame it's only 2:30 long!)

Kevin Ayers - The Unfair Ground (missed this when it was released - it's great, especially Brainstorm)

Soft Machine - Vol.1 (that keyboard solo in Lullaby Letter - wow!)

Interesting set of reference points, I'll have to listen to some more Destroyer. Cheers.

Good to see you are getting a worldwide reputation as a reviewer - I keep coming across your reviews/comments on other sites. I got a 'fan' on Facebook recently, but it turns out they'd got me mixed up with a more successful namesake.
