to my surprise the other day I spotted a reference to crazy guys jumping through plate glass windows at the beginning of V. ... so evidently certain things stick in that dude's head for a long time. is on pg2: "...one potential berserk studying the best technique for jumping through a plate glass window (when to scream Geronimo? before or after the glass breaks?) ..." Zoyd begat?

On initial hearing, I am quite impressed too. He sounds like he used to, only, umm, "sharper" (?) -- but without losing his famous "blurriness".

His stuff always sounds to me like he somehow drained the sounds out of beat-up old 8-tracks from the mid-1970's. Crinkly faded old California coke-rock riffs, only the music didn't really sound like that back then.

I detect a certain "fake nostalgia" approach to music these days -- Stereolab may have been the pioneers ("a past vision of a future that never really happened.") Sun Araw and Ariel Pink fit in there too.
