Listened to a few 2009 releases again this week... LP’s UNCONFIRMED REPORTS - Akatombo Dark and dense album from former Swim label artist. I reveiwed it here... http://www.evilsponge.org/albums/Akatombo__UnconfirmedReports.htm RELIVE – Paul Haig Latest from former Joseph K guy. Not as hot as Electronik Audience froma couple of years ago, but enjoyable all the same. SOUNDS FROM THE ELECTRONIC GARDEN – Jonteknik Some Kraftwerk-like moments mixed with some more dancey things. Like it. IN AND OUT OF CONTROL – The Raveonettes Last Dance is a great pop song! TOMORROW TODAY – Seeland Definitely one of my favourites of the year. THE MYSTERY WORKSHOP - Rebecca Joy Sharp Beautiful. LIQUID MERCURY 7” – The Wild Swans Pretty much as good as it gets for me. ALSO... MOVING ON VOL 2 – V/A Charity cd that features our man in Wiltshire. Some really good tracks here. WHERE THE ACTION IS – V/A Hugely enjoyable LA Nuggets (1965-68) boxset. THIRD DAY - Wire 5 track cd from Wire, recorded back in 1999 when they got back together, that includes two versions of Pink Flag. Great to hear them attack Mercy. And... CLOSE TO ME – The Carpenters FLOORED GENIUS 4 – Julian Cope BLESS THE WEATHER / ONE WORLD – John Martyn And Julians POSTPUNKSAMPLER. Thanks!!

Faust - C'est...com...com...Compliqué Absolute cracker of an album, J.H.P. and Zappi certainly haven't lost their creativity over the years. Brian Eno - Curiosities Volume 1 Nice collection of ditties salvaged from the studio floor(!) Psychic TV - Allegory And Self Gen and co. dabble in some great psyche pop. Fuck Buttons - Tarot Sport A great album with Mr. Weatherall adding a nice touch too. I especially love the track "Rough Steez" - what a scorcher! Spell - Seasons In The Sun Wish they'd do a follow-up sometime. Caravan - s/t An unsung debut and 2nd in place to 'In The Land...' imho Throbbing Gristle* - The Third Mind Movements Great atmospherics on the go. Peter Hammill - Fool's Mate Sheer bliss. V/A : On-U Sound - : Pay It All Back Vol. 3 I think this is the best of the Vols 1-6. *Also, been giving my black Gristleism Box a run through, anyone else got theirs yet?, I got a black one - what a neat little audio-ornament - marvellous stuff indeed!! Have a Merry Christmas and a grand 2010 Everyone!! =8-] {} _ |__ /_____ o o))_______ (< ) /####### __{'~` }#########| / { _}_/########| / { / _|#/ )####| / _~/ /_ |####| ______/ | |####| __________|/#####| |__[X]_____/ ###/ /___________ | |/ | |___/ |___/ _| /_| / (___,_(___,_)

BUBBLEHEAD wrote: SUNN O))) - Oracle 2CD - Swag from recent live date, good to finally get this in lazy git format. don't suppose you managed to get a copy of the Gravetemple Paris Vampire CD when you got Oracle? I could kick myself, as I didn't bother as I had a copy ordered which now has gone missing in the post BUBBLEHEAD wrote: SPIRITUALIZED - LAGWAFIS - SP50 and SP60 - Fascinating stuff to hear especially after my recent epiphany at the Barbican live date. Are SP50 & 60 worth forking out for, actually just say yes, because I know I'm going to buy it [unless they really are terrible]

Yup it's pretty good, it came out in November and I think it's pretty good. My favourite track is Trip Out The Rider and there is an interesting cover version of Horse by Pere Ubu. Some say it's a return to form but, like another album I have raved about recently, I think he continues in the same way he's always done. If you liked J. K. you should like this.

My very wonderful 79 year old dad died suddenly on Thursday about 1000 miles away from me (I live in Chicago and he in Florida) and with the loss of my mom in 2007 I'm left feeling a little empty but music and brotherhood with likeminded souls and of course my family will pull me through. Nice way to kick off the holidays though, eh? Anyway, this past week saw me enjoying--- Paternoster/ST Eloy/Visionary Ancestors/Of Sound Mind Dogntank/Dogntank VA/A Lethal Dose of Hard Psych Julian Cope/Citizen Cain'd Earth/Hibernaculum Sun City Girls/Wah Om/God is Good Sunn O)))/Monoliths & Dimensions Tia Carrera/Heaven and Hell Espers/II Guru Guru/UFO Anglagard/Epilog Sinkadus/Aurum Nostrum Solaris/Nostradamus Spring/ST Jade Warrior/Last Autumn's Dream Fish/Vigil... No been hearing much this week Did get Hellvete's new LP - "De Gok" - he being one of the key players in Sylvester Anfang ii - very enjoyable it is too Also gave Dredd Foole a spin - "songs to despond ya" and "a long, losing battle" - always good to hear Dan going on a rant Hawkwind - Quark - (the remastered expanded cd set) was off seeing them on Friday night and had to listen to this on the way there and back 13 Floor Elevators - easter everywhere John Coltrane meditations - now this is just a bit too much unstructured noise for me (mostly) Also - some Bach whilst putting up the xmas tree...
