the album really hits the mark. And the thirteen and a half minute Get Down is immense!

OK you can stop hiding again, full marks for recognising the immensity of Get Down, I too was somewhat underwhelmed by Dogntank after some of the rave reviews it got, a 3 star recording at best IMHO

otherwise my listening has been pretty much the same old shit bar Sub Pop 200 which is amusing as it features all the big grunge names but shows that the blueprint existed way before big name bands existed

plus reading Babylons Burning a history of Punk to Grunge which is a good read if only because it starts at about the same time I got into music so I can see how accurate it is, whilst still being off the mark by a mile. Still i did find out that the Rezillos far from being the band wagon hoppers I thought they were are actually quite groundbreaking, time to dig out them scratchy 7"s

Ha! Actually I don't mind the rock bits. It's the fiddly bits I'm less keen on!

I played TOTP recently. What a great record to sing along to!

Hail and waaaauurrgh! Mostly a heavy week with...

Anaal Nathrakh - Eschaton
Anaal Nathrakh - Domine es non Dignus. UK Black metal misanthropy made manifest. "Wuuuuuuaaaaargh we're all shit. We must die!!!!" Good though!

Dimmu Borgir - Et Sorte Diablo. Symphonic black metal silliness but they are really good at it.

Octavia Sperati - Winter Enclosure. Nordic gothy lady metal. Saw 'em a couple of years ago at one of these In The City Shindigs. They were ace.

To-Mera - Trancendental. Prog Metal with some surprisingly jazzy interludes. Takes a couple of listens to get into it, but 'tis good.

Emperor - In The Nightside Eclipse. Classic Nordic black metalment.

Machine Head - The Blackening. Ambitious prog tinged riffery. Bet Metallica pooed themselves when they heard it. No wonder they upped their game a bit after.

Bison (BC) - Quiet Earth. Canadian, hence the 'bc', thrash n sludge tinged stonery. Very heavy and very good!

Weird Owl - Ever the Silver Cord be Loosed. Dead Meadow/Black Mountainish psyche-stonerisms. Starts mellow, gets heavier. I like.

plus

Neotopia - Tracks on a couple of cds. KC's band, no really (;^)). Tis nice

Anon Harp Trio - 3 tracks. IanB n Hami from Lunar Dunes plus nice harp lady make beguiling and groovy sounds. V good

The Warlocks - Surgery.

Adam F - Colours. Not played for ages but loving it again.

Erik Satie - Best of. Minimal piano noodlement. Nice.

Linton Kwesi Johnson - Forces of Victory. Love it. What else is good with LKJ?

Have a nice week Vibranauts. x

picked up the Island anthology thing a few years back which I think samples the 1st 3 lps plus some dub versions and as far as I recall it's pretty solid.
that's Independant Intavenshan and I think the other 2 are bass culture (with line drawing of man going downstairs)and posibly Dread, Beat An' Blood though this was done under the name Poet & The Roots which I think was the band he had before he went solo.

might roughly guess that Benjamin Zephaniah or LKJ's white parallel John Cooper clarke might also appeal Though the latter's music is very different.

Np In Gowan Ring 9/9/09 not sure of titles, or that they were still going.

Many happy returns! xx

Do you listen to different stuff, when out driving to what you'd normally have on the player, back indoors?

Hmmm... This should, perhaps, have been a new thread subject.

not sure if it's got the same dirty kitchen sink coherence or narrative appeal. but definitely if you're into dubbed out music with basso profundo vocal rumblings over it I wouldn't hesitate.
there's a good Trojan 2cd on him, which I nearly played earlier as i tried to make a storage chest. played dillinger instead though, again reccommended trojan 2cd but he's very slack. bawdy allovathaplace

Moon Cat, I can HIGHLY recommend Benjamin Zephaniah's 2005 album "Naked", it's a real winner. In fact most of his are damn fine.

Not quite so poetic but also very good is Eek-A-Mouse. Worth a look too.

Post up and let us know what you think of what you go for.
