Oh agree (not again). DLR was the dog's all the way up to Skyskraper. I too would pay to see Cope open the proverbial envelope. The real thing.

I think all the people you list were great front men but they also had really great bands behind them.

What makes him especially great is that the Fredster managed to lift Queen beyond their basic nafness into a whole new genre of non-rock rock. Which worked a treat for them. I don't want to be reductive about his sexuality but there was deffo theatrical swank where others swaggered.

They sound much better to me at 30+ years remove than they did at the time and (somehow) for a band I don't like I have somehow acquired TEN of their albums. So they must have something.

I thought they were absolutely heretical in 74!
