each to their own indeed Jane

can't see any similarities with old Neil myself. he's never sang like he's got a whippet down his trousers :-)

i really am not a fan of 'tweeness'

Can't see much tweeness in Nick Drake myself, he's hardly James Taylor, I've always thought the reason he was held in such high regard was his avoidence of the usual acoustic whimsy [much like N.Young] plus the fact that he wrote some cracking tunes, still each to his own

Yeah, I've never thought of ND as sounding remotely twee either.

Pastoral maybe, but twee?

dainty would be a good word to sum up Mr Drake's music (IMHO)

and wet

I'd call it fragile. And dark. Haunting. I'm thinking of Pink Moon in particular.

Bryter has some pretty tunes on it. I guess you could call some of them dainty.

No, I don't hear 'dainty' on BL at all, Jane. It's some of the most beautiful, yet heartfelt music I ever have heard. Mind you, it's in my top 5 albums of all time so I would say that!

To add my 2 peneth for what its worth, I was bought up with the sounds of Bowie,Neil Young,Tim Buckley and Nick Drake!

Sorry Riotmaster,i don't hear any twee at all.

I hear heartfelt and meloncholy, dark and haunting and beautiful.
Not twee though mate!

Agree with you on most aspects but not this one.

But.............Would'nt life be boring if we all agreed all the time?
