heh, it doesn't surprise me at all that it got past quality control, a lot of CD pressing plants are of the *shrug* 'I can hear music on it, sounds alright to me' school of QC. My own brief dealings with the ways of making CDs (as in, NOT, CDRs) led me to going somewhere else and overseeing the making of the glass master, then sending the glass masters to the plant for them to use with the included note 'don't make additional ones, and don't fuck with these'. Not that it's possible, once on glass the jobs a good un, just like when you make plates for vinyl.

Re: Jehovahkill Deluxe all the copies are affected??

Hi,

My guessing is that it is the whole lot that
have the background noise.
To confirm this on disc one it is
most noticeable on the very last
track. Play the section towards the end
with the volume turned up very
loud ideally on headphones, where
Julian starts singing 'Mother...' and you
will probably notice crackling in the
background

Cheers

Maybe post and contrast the master numbers on the CD surface round da hole, thats if they're there ?

Would that work? I can post mine up if folks want to do the comparison. I've listened to mine again and still can't hear anything bad on it, but that could be my system. I've not had chance to crank it up to 11 yet. My copy is a promo copy, so it may be from the first batch to get made, but not being wise in the ways of CD manufacture I don't know what difference, if any, that could make.

Here's the tiny print on the back of my bad cds:

CD1: (bad)
Universal IFPI LV26
06024 984 315-6 01 51795913
Made in Germany by EDC
A
IFPI 0138

CD2: (bad)
Universal IFPI LV26
06024 984 315-8 01 51798734
Made in Germany by EDC
A
IFPI 0118

How about you guys? What are your numbers, and do your CDs sound worse than the original CDs?

My new JK has static crackle on it too. I just popped the original on and it sounds better than the re-issue. Shame.

But the pages in my TMA are intact!

What numbers are on the back of your reissued CDs? They should be very small, and resemble the ones I listed.

mine are the same numbers as yours. Its a bit hissy but bearable. I stupidly bought the original on cassette coz i was doing a lot of driving at the time(tape player chewed it). so i dont have an original CD to compare it But i have missed it and its good to hear again

Thanks everyone,

You just stopped me buying a dud copy in Tokyo. Am dying to hear it, but in this state: no.

Hope they get better versions out soon.

I think the noise is more noticeable simply because the songs are louder in the mix and as a result any background noise that was barely noticeable on the original cd release is now audable.
