Cope's always been very amiable n jolly when I've met him.
Didn't exactly meet Mark E. Smith but was waiting at a bar in Manc while he was pissed as a koont moaning about all the "fookin stuudents" to a bloke next to him and claiming t have more or less invented everything ever. Didn't press him on the seed drill but that was definitely Jethro Tull invented that. It was a well known student friendly indie club so moaning about all the students was a bit like going into Battersea Dogs Home and moaning about all the dogs...but there y'go.
Met Jon Pertwee as a child and he referred to me as 'my son' so that means I should deffo be the next Dr Who!
Fat Orange Mouse has met some slebs in his time and offers the following....

I met Vybic John once. He was standing at the front at the end of a Cope gig and I said 'hi' to him. He acknowledged me, but he was just too 'post-gig high' to sign my autograph book and discuss the production values on Autogeddon.
I don't hold it against him, though. He'd given his all at that gig ; )

I saw that too. Great prize but not for me i'm afraid. Hangovers used to last a coupla hours, now they last days.
Er, to qualify original post, I wouldn't want to give the impression that he was my bestest mate or anything. One of my mates was a mate of the Ruts guitarist Paul Fox who in turn was mates with Rat.
Which reminds me that they played together in an occasional band called 'Foxes and Rats' doing mostly 60's covers at tiny venues in and around London at the period. Ah.. happy carefree days.
