The God I'm talking about were a late 80's Aussie band - on Shakin' Street IIRC.

Is that Gavin Bryars piece the one on the Crepuscule disc with "Titanic"? I have only heard the version of the latter on the Point issue, which is pretty wan. I've been meaning to track down a copy of the Crepuscule disc.

Greetings thru the last vestiges of a flu bug most cuntly.
Sounds attempting to banish plague from my system have been...

Sunride - Through the Red. Soundgardensque stoner riffage from Finland.

Darkthrone - Under a Funeral Moon / A Blaze In a Northern Sky. Double slice of OTT black metal shenanigens from those crazy Norwegians.

Opeth - Still Life. Tip top prog death melodic melange metal.

Julian Cope - Citizen C'ainnd. Finally got it. A real grower and following the Rome stuff , it makes sense to me. Enjoying it I be. I too had packaging probs...but then it suddenly cured itself. Just needed a nice sit down with a cu of tea.

Slipknot - Vol 3: The Subliminal Verses. Diverse stuff from be-masked heavy folk

Spaztek Kumrag - Putrid Defacation Of The Goat Of Sergio Mendez

Lemon Jelly - Lemon Jelly.KY. Collection of head soothing ambi-blarps

Think that was mostly it 'cos I been too poorly for much enthusiastic listening.

Jesus' Blood Never Failed Me Yet

Well, my copy is on Eno's Obscure label with 'Titanic' on Side One with 'Jesus' on Side Two. I think they're the original recordings - 'Jesus' is particularly moving as it features the voice of a tramp who died soon afterwards. The more famous, longer version features Tom Waits but to my ears ain't as good.

Busy week so not much chance for listening. Mainly Aussie 80's ramalama, including :-
Hoodoo Gurus / The Stems / Scientists / New Christs / Eastern Dark, etc. If only all indie rock was this good.

Oh and for the evenings.....
CLUSTER - 2. On heavy rotation and pushing all the right buttons still.

And through the power of suggestion....
SPACEMEN 3 - Dreamweapon CD and Transparent Radiation EP
And very good they are too

Ha ha...i'll throw the CD single in one of the next parcels i send you if i can turf it out...it was on the windowsill for AGES after we moved house, someone left it when we bought it. Though it may have found it's way to Bernardos or Oxfam in last years Big Clearout.

Oof, sorry JT...i just HATE the Smiths...think it was all those early/mid 80's Peel shows that got spoiled for me by the inevitable 10 minutes of Smiths-esqu whining whilst i was waiting for Clan Of Xymox or Xmal Deutschland sessions or ... (erm...i'll get me coat)

Sadly, i can't compare with those 'eclectic' tastes y'all have got...I've been putting together a couple of MP3 comps of 'what i REALLY liked in the 80's, as opposed to what i told my 'cool' compadres of the time.

So, here goes...

The Cure...17 Seconds/Faith/Pornography/The Top
Looking forward to those re-issues, but i've had to put up with my poppy/clicky vinyl. These are my fav' cure moments, lost interest about the time of Head On The Door..just a tad tooo poppy for me. Love the pop-psychedelia of The Top..playing that LOTS of late, didn't like it on release though, guess i'm getting mellow in my dotage.

New Order, Power Corruption.../Low Life/BBC Sessions/Substance singles comp'.
Apart from Bauhaus, New order were one of the first 'indie' bands i got into...wasn't aware of Joy Division when i first got into these, still some of my fav' records of the 80's..remember having a great Radio 1 'In Concert' tape from around 83 or so that bit the dust a year or two ago, now that was one of my fav tapes EVER! :(

Bauhaus ... Press The Eject../Sky's Gone Out/Burning From The../BBC Sessions.
What can i say, they still sound pretty good to me, sad that they got into the whole 'goth' thang, as they had so much more to offer. Lover their heavy bass and wirey guitars, even loved ole' Pete'sstage theatrics, yeah, so they ripped Bowie big time, but i still love em. Press The Eject is a great live record too.

Neils Child Change/ Return/ Success + Live Birmingham.
Saw em'at Club NME last week, got in free, which was an ace birthday pressie, they were fabbo, nuf said. New Wave punk sonics inna Pil meets Cure vibe, lUURVE EM', best live band all year so far...even better than LCD in Manc, and they were GOOOD.

Various crappy 80's comp's to cherry pic the tunes i liked

Anyhow, could waffle on for ages, but your bored already.

Have a good week
