Apologies - should have been more specific there. I was referring to the three albums made by the original 4-piece line-up. 'Fraid I can't agree with your assessment of "Songs Of The Free" - it's not a complete disaster, but for me it suffers from overproduction and relatively mediocre songs and as such is nowhere near in the same league as the first two.
Haven't heard the subsequent three albums but according to a mate of mine who owns them, "Hard" is really shit.
If you ask me, though, the best recorded example of their output is the "Peel Sessions" compilation on Strange Fruit as it's rawer and has more feel than the studio albums. In fact I'm hoping this is what they'll sound like live.
