Yes, Julian's had several pops at the "Canterbury Cup Of Tea" scene (his term) over the years. Check out the postscript of his ace VdGG 'Pawn Hearts' review for an example.

I think the Kevin Ayers comparison has been exaggerated anyway. There are a couple of tracks from the earliest days of Copey's solo career that are a bit 'Joy Of A Toy'ish it's true, and yes, he did facially and hairily resemble Herne Bay's finest to a degree at that point, but that's about it.

Good ol' Mr. Allen!

Anyone heard any more about his Tape Experiments from the early 1960s (The Switch Doctor") being released yet ? I heard it from the man himself about 2 years ago, after I questioned him at manchester's Night & Day bash, this was supposed to be out on the Voiceprint label.
