Popol Vuh

I've just started getting into this group -- had a couple questions for the experts.

1. What's the deal with the Norwegian band of the same name? I'm assuming they did some records too, are they any good?

2. Anybody familiar with their album "Sei Still, Wisse ICH BIN" (1981)? It's got Chris Karrer & Renate Knaup from Amon Duul II!

I had a hard time getting into Popol Vuh with the first three albums that one is advised to get. I got hold of the other seventies material and made two brilliant conpilations of their guitar based songs. Well worth a go.

I think the Nors PV has an album called "Quich Mag" or something like that . . . (?)

Also a little more research has revealed that Renate Knaup sang on several (german) PV albums in the 80's . . . I'm curious to hear them!

Its a hard one to get into for me, very heavy in a vocal and percussion kind of way. It sounds really BIG like it should be the soundtrack for life altering rituals or something like that.

Letze Tage, Letze Nacht is an absolutley stellar album by them though and easily the best starting point I think.

I have a copy of that album and personally, I don't rate it - virtually all the Krautrock outfits had burnt out creatively by the 80s IMO and I don't think PV are any exception. Too New Agey and tribalistic for my liking.

Haven't heard the Norwegian lot, I'm afraid.

I've always found Yoga a bit dull, an odd one.
