Living in Glasgow, a couple of obvious choices...

Deacon Blue. Real Gone Kid
Simple Minds. Don't You Forget About Me

I know everyone hates 'em, but you still catch 'em wafting out of clipjoints every so often, & they have a horrid Slaughterhouse-5 effect upon the atmosphere. Like the apparition of skulls, everybody begins to appear shoulder-padded and mulleted, & a real threat of air-punching insinuates. Don't even get me started on Mary's Prayer.

& since I was ranting just the other mo over on HH about Joy Div...

Joy Division. Transmission

Seriously. Don't ever want to hear this again. Love them, but this song scares the shit out of me. Really truly honestly don't enjoy hearing it. Get that deja-vu headswim. Don't know why, don't want to know why.

& while we're at it...

Abba. Dancing Queen

the Amazing Grace of screeching/spewing hen/stag-nite purgatory. Shame really, as it's such a sad tale if you care to consider the lyric.

Pretty blatant offenders I admit (maybe not JD) but worth some early-hrs vitriol. I'm with Carlos on the subject - - this one could run longer than the Archers.....
