Sorry but I think The Streets are cobblers- poetry my arse! It's so fucking mundane & about as concept as the average Irvine Welsh novel. People like The Specials, Wreckless Eric, The Fall & Ian Dury have done this kind of thing better- the only addition is the two years out of date garage-stylee/drum'n'bass elements that anyone can do in their bedroom now. Obviously it's better if people were listening to the streets than most of the stuff around these days, but I think it's about as classic/seminal as the streets debut that sounds quite embarrasing just a year or two later...Thought the debate in the guardian or independent was interesting- but give me Mark E Smith or Morrissey anyday...
