trying to get a bit of country heritage myself, but went too far back & got distracted by the Harry Smith Anthology. now even old country seems too new.

Blues Brothers... Lmao. Yes. Classic. I love their version of 'Shake a Tail Feather' - another song that makes me shiver (in the original version) Pix xx

Free Kitten - fuck (honest, it works for me) Rockbitch (The blonde one who never seems to be sure where she is) Can - Tago Mago (the album whole) PiL - the flowers of romance. Dexys - Geno. Mouse on mars remix of Ovals Do While. I picked up the first Buddy Holly lp after hearing the 13FE cover of I'm Gonna Love You Too and it sounds pretty proto Ramones. Heard that Buddy was supposed to be hung even more heavily thahn Iggy, just to bring the tone down a little I'm a big fan of 50s r+r too 60s psych, turna the70s rock, lounge, etc etc music has always been my #1 thing. +reading heavily just reading Benjamin Whorf, Language Thought and reality and James Wilson's THe EArth Shall Weep +just finished The DEsign of everyday things by Donald A. Norman +the language of film by a guy called Cariere who used to write scripts for Bunuel on a major reading jag right now Stevo Np GEnesis fountain of SAlmacis

Soul Desert was one of the songs picked for both the Leper Skin and The Collection compilations. Can't be all bad then.

Buddy Holly was great, but Brown Eyed Handsome Man is a Chuck Berry song, who was also great (yes, I know he's still with us, but he hasn't even recorded anything new in almost a quarter century - which reminds me, I'd forgotten that his last LP, Rocket, is considered unsung by some people. Keep forgetting to try to track it down. But I digress.) xxoo 'patra
