| Sanshee, that is hardly a representation of a Scottish welcome. Most of us are in favour of refugees. Isolated incidents will occur in Scotland as anywhere, not that often I hope. | |

| Yeah, should have explained myself better. Those are all horrible images that you've posted and I'm sure there are many more far worse floating around on the net. I was thinking admittedly from a British-centric point of view. The cartoon I posted was taken from a National Daily Newspaper, The Daily Mail and it depicted refugees as vermin invading Europe. For an Establishment nespaper to print that - well, I still think it's gobsmacking. | |

Smacks very much of what was around in the 1930s where the Jews were concerned - albeit no atrocities had at that point been committed 'in their name'. I never read that particular newspaper but I'll surprised if it doesn't cause an outrage. |

However the mutterings down the pub do tell that up here there are as many asshole bigots as anywhere, as you rightly allude to. But please, there is no such thing as a 'Scottish welcome', what does that even mean? |

I sincerely hope and wish that the secterianism which we have been and still are to an extent have eroded bit by bit in Scotland doesn't get taken over by racist bigots as a new flagpole. Yes we are. WE are different and more tolerant now. All the world knows it. You can slag me off for living in England, but us Scots are renowned for being fair. That is a fact. I come across all sorts in filthy London and respect others. I get respected too. Corbyn is right. Fighting and killing is not an answer to fighting and killing. |
