I think that is a pretty good analysis and sadly and worryingly not fanciful. You are right to recall the Uister Unionist precedent, and looks like you agree with me that the mainstream media are giving UKIP an unusually benign ride. The UK is drifting steadily to the right, liberties are being eroded inexorably...and the NHS: I'm convinced its stuffed if the Cons get another term. The generation that brought it into being has all but passed away, and the money men are winning.
