I should have added, that political parties building a campaign, such as for an up-coming election, will consider the responses, positive and negative. The cost case for the promotion will consider the likely benefit and the worst possible case.
I would be surprised if the BNP haven't considered the number of their targets who will respond with abuse or just junk replies...and that this will be very well accommodated within their campaign marketing budget..
That said, if you feel strongly enough to try it..do it.
