We've had some mason bees in our garden (not the very rare type) - we have an old South facing wall in the back of of our South Bristol home, and I think they live in there. The only problem is that it needs re-pointing, and I'm a bit worried about entombing the bees!
We've had plenty of bumble bees too - we've got stuff like comfrey, borage, etc which they like.
Reading about "Colony Collapse" really makes me think that the World would be better off without us humans =:0(
