I don't quite see how any individual can do that with unorganised, non-hierarchical cell-structure groups who are, in reality, less of a group and more of a convenient banner used by different people who share common aims.

I think it's harder still to do it with Reclaim the Streets given that they haven't existed in any form for five years or more.


RtS was a historical example; I'm just going by what I've heard and read. There are people who seem more eager to speak on the behalf of "a convenient banner" than others (and, yes, I think that sometimes Monbiot aims for credibility by association) and, although, it they never get off the ground there always seems to be someone encouraging the drawing up of 'membership lists' and so on.
