a few years ago, we had Peter Tatchell come and speak, and he was telling us how his crew (and people he was in touch with) were having informal discussions with the Zimb military - constantly talking to them, building relationships, reminding them that RM wouldn't be around forever - formenting a coup, basically.

One of the things he was talking about that I'd never really thought of before is that the world's armies work together as a sort of tradesman's guild - they might fight each other sometimes, but that's strictly business, and don't tend to hold personal grudges- and that army officers communicate and co-operate horizontally between armies, even if the Governments they fight for are officially at loggerheads

interesting, but doesn't seem to have come to much yet ...
