http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/4218851.stm Now, while I don't partake myself I admit that the more actual knowledge about the subject we have - as opposed to hysteria - the better. So this is a good thing. But what I want to know is - how come one mental health charity makes a call for this to happen and suddenly the full weight of the Department of Health swings in and says 'yes, straight away!' This sudden response seems most unlike the government I know - unless there's a movement that wants to recriminalise possession and consumption and is looking for an excuse and some scientific window dressing to back it up. Or is that just hopelessly paranoid?

What I don't understand is that there was some talk about cannabis actually being beneficial to sufferers of depression, not to mention MS - they weren't exactly quick off the mark to research that, I don't think. No you're not being paranoid - this govt is a bunch of lying sanctimonious arse-licking bush-dick-sucking fuckwits.

And they're all pot-smoking acid-casualty bitter 'ex'-hippies.

Feeling v anti-establishment today - saw Farenheit 911 t'other day and although I didn't learn anything 'new' from it, it still made me incredibly cross. OK so Dubya's a jerk and it's not fair all you Americans have him as a president, but Blair has a CHOICE, he doesn't HAVE to lick arse, he was supposed to be a socialist prime minister - I feel all deluded and disillusioned and lied to by the man, but that's not got much to do with cannabis... or has it?

Hmmm. As a sufferer from depression and a former habitual cannabis smoker (who still indulges occasionally) I don't know if it is that beneficial in the long term. It can relieve the symptoms, but it also encourages you to ignore the causes, which isn't a good thing if you're serious about recovering...

The bit that annoys me in all this debate is the current yob culture discussions that you cant get away from. Drunk people do get obnoxious and sometimes violent. Stoned people just giggle a lot, fall asleep or eat a lot of chocolate. If de erb was legalised then city centres would become more peaceful and there would be one less problem for police/mps to deal with. Then they could spend some more time sorting out the medical bits.

BTW, I'll bet pot-smoking or whatever else Quex is on (no doubt PCP) isn't of help for HIS depression... Or his rotten attitude.

Or, maybe they could just start putting valium in the water supply?
