Dennis Kucinich - A US View?
Dec 11, 2003, 16:06
>>Congressman Kucinich is a Vegan who advocates >>nuclear disarmament and "reasonable >>boundaries for marijuana use"

Never heard of this bloke (one of the front runners for the Democrat candidacy). Any of our Stateside correspondants care to offer a view?

Dem pileup 2004

Kucinich is running, one of the "pack of 9", but he certainly isn't a frontrunner.

Has a reputation as the most liberal of the liberals, which probably translates to "unelectable" (Dean's getting the majority of super-liberal support so far.)

Hard to imagine who can beat Dean for the dem nomination at this point, tho no one's actually voted yet so ya shouldn't count those chickens.

Gore endorsed Dean yesterday; but the two real big shots in the Dem party (Mr. & Mrs. Clinton) haven't made any endorsements yet. Word is they will back Wesley Clark. If they do, then it could get interesting.

And: keep an eye out for Al Sharpton. He's running a much better campaign than anyone expected and could wind up being the "king maker" (he can't win, but will probably pick up quite a few delegates in the south -- enough to decide who gets the nomination if it's close at the end.)

Kucinich sounds like someone I'd vote for other than maybe Sharpton or else Nader if he runs again. It would figure that those despicable Clintons would throw their support with that fascist Clark (or else 'moralist' hypocrite Leiberman.)

Lieberman's a non-entity in this race, so don't worry. ;-)

Michael Moore? He always seemed like a nice guy, but why Clark? He's just a Bush-like fascist!

There was an article in the Village Voice that he was gonna be a spoiler. Although I guess it seems less likely now :6). I still hate him -- supposed 'liberal' but sounds more like Patrick Buchanen.

I'd say Clark is more of a Clinton-like "tell people what they want to hear but don't really have any principles or stand for anything" type of candidate.

Which is why he's the Clinton's natural choice!

Apparently coz he's anti-war. also, although he
doesn't agree on a lot of stuff, he respects other
people's right to disagree...or something...

I don't think Lieberman's ever been considered a liberal. I thought the whole reason Gore picked him for #2 last time was that he would balance the ticket: left+right, north+south, WASP+minority, etc.

I think the only candidates who will stick around in the dem race are Dean, Clark, Gephardt and Sharpton. (What a mess!)
