That's essentially what I found out! (Let's see if I can do that wink... ;^) There!)

I know my favorite saying was the one by Henri David Thoreau about if someone who doesn't keep pace with his companions, it must be he hears the sound of a distant drummer -- let him seek the music he hears however near or far away. Something like that. There's many others but they don't come to mind at the moment. Oh yeah, I have a t-shirt with a quote by Voltaire that says "Prejudice is the reason of fools."

I just thought of another, which probably contradicts much of what I have said: "Nothing is true. All is permitted." That was from someone called "The Old Man on the Mountains" who lived on Mount Ararat, or something... I learned that one from Eric Lunde from Wisconsin industial-noise band Boy Dirt Car, in a response to an angry letter I sent him once...

That quote is attributed to Hassan-i-Sabbah (his mountain fortress was called Alamut.) http://65.107.211.206/cpace/theory/alamut/hassan.html

That's what I meant when I said I was free in spirit. That last paragraph.

It's also a phrase heavily used as a kind of ethos (though perhaps in a somewhat contradictory way) by practioners & devotees of Chaos Magic. They are also responsible for 'tidying' my flat.
