Have you seen this? http://www.countrysidefoundation.org.uk/index.htm "The mission of the Countryside Foundation for Education [which is a charity!]is a simple one. It is to educate, inform and inspire children, parents and teachers, so that they can enjoy and appreciate the countryside while having a greater understanding of the wide range of issues surrounding it." Whereas in truth, it's a front, with the specific aim to convince young kids that tearing living creatures apart for fun is OK... http://www.huntinginquiry.gov.uk/evidence/countryfoundeducation.htm

Here in Somerset there's quite a lot of pro-hunting amongst the locals, sadly. It does seem to be the incomers and enlightened local heads who are against it. I don't mean to make a sweeping judgment, but I've found that a suprising amount of rural locals, both here and in Ireland are often more complacent and less caring re. the natural world, almost as if it's just needless sentimentality. I verbally squared up to one buffoon recently who was blathering on about tradtition re. ALL bloodsports. He was dumfounded and silent when I asked him if he was also in favour of bringning back witch dunking .

Fatal Flaw by Patrick McFarland We're watching and we’re waiting and we’re loving and we’re hating as the whore of greed is slowly passing by. Every thief and every banker lifts a frosty mug to thank her while the widow wipes the tear beneath her eye. And the politician smiles as the cash is stacked in piles while the price of crude is soaring to the sky. And the folks who rule the planet take the whole damn thing for granite plucking fiddles while the children slowly die

So he thinks the ban is a mistake 'cos it's difficult to enforce? Isn't that because it's not a ban, it's a series of loopholes put there by his lot to help his mates avoid it being enforced? He could try actually banning it. Or would that be hard to enforce because 200 people on horses tooting horns and dressed in scarlet would be hard to see?
