They always seem to cheat, one way or another. We don't need to.

Can't argue with your last post, one point though. Will moving the pivot point back increase the lateral force on the tower as the stone swings down on its descent? If the answer is no then it's a great idea. Remember we're talking 40 tons here, maybe 80 tons if I can't get this latest crazy notion out of my head. (Don't take that last bit too seriously).

Steve seems to know his maths maybe he can work it out. I feel that it won't but that's just a feeling.

One of the uprights is 32ft long, and the hole 8ft deep (one of the trilithons) the holes vary in depth depending on the length of the stone. That's all the info I have. I wrote to English Heritage but they were not very helpful.
