Ah, distances....

A week should be fine for seeing a fair amount in those areas as long as you haven't got too many other commitments while you're here!

Quick check shows the quickest 'road' distance to be 88.2 miles(!).

Not far at all, but remember British public transport is often rubbish! Both places are a little bit 'in the sticks'. Could you borrow or hire a car?

Otherwise, train would really be the only option I think. Ordnance Survey maps show Darley Dale as having a station but I can't find any info on the web about trains that go there!

At a guess you'd have to get to York by bus or taxi (11ish miles). From there get a train to Chesterfield roughly an hour or hour and a half. Then bus or taxi to Darley Dale itself (9 miles) if there really are no trains.

A bit of a faff, but not TOO bad if the trains are running OK etc.

How do you plan to get around to look at sites?

love
