OK, I concede it is a pretty cool move for a well-established megastar like Prince. Willfully difficult for marketing people and the record company generally too I suppose. But Freur have no excuse - expecting people to go along with that shit when they're unknowns. Pah! Mind you, I'll admit I did practice writing the symbol out, but I was young and impressionable. Still got no idea what the music was like.

do know that version of don't fear the reaper's pretty cool and as far as i recall the rest of the mini lp's not far behind it.
think the 2 protagonists were calling themselves from experience? i think the end of right side of my brain might give yopu some idea what i'm talking about.
as to the name Sex Pistols
I think its pretty dashed cool, fun ,sums up what the sound was abaht etc
plus it spawned a load of punning bandnames

The only song by Freur I recall was a single called "Doot Doot" which I have a feeling Cope mentions as liking in one of his biographies. Chorus went something like "...and we go Doot. Doot Doot! BleeEOoOp"!
It was, to be fair, a fairly odd piece of not quite new romantic pop with lots of little electronic textures. I remember seeing them on the Tube looking quite strange with some guy, their 'Bez', playing a big candy spiral stick that went BlooOooop!
And yeah Karl Hyde and Rick Smith went on to form Underworld. And they are ace so there!

The name 'Sex Pistols' also inspired the title of KISS's song "Love Gun" oddly enough.
