Hope y'all enjoying the short blast of winter. Took a fabbo sunshiney (butcold) hike up Leckampton Hill to Crickley yesterday....was nice to see some of the white stuff, we didn't get any in (well not much) Brum.

Hawkwind - warrior on the Edge Of Time
Never got around to picking up the uber remastered package from a few years ago, so have to do with me 'nice price' vinyl.

Gravenhurst - The Western Lands

Mick Jagger - Invocation Of My Demon Brother
This is a great tune, well the first 8 odd minutes. Kinda reminds me of bits of Leary's 'The Trip' album in atmosphere. I don't own it, so did a sneaky DL off youtube. Must have played it a dozen times or more this week, great bit of 'occult' influenced psych. Even gives Floyd a run for their money (IMO) for it's strange atmosphere it conjures up. Just imagine if he'd followed his muse, left the Stones and went off on some experimental bent. He'd a made no money, but may have had a more interesting journey. I always loved his 'Memo From Turner' track in Performance too. My first experience of psychedelics/ mushrooms was with a couple of Canterbury 'heads' who were doing an art course at Birmingham Uni in the mid 80's. They fancied themselves as Pallenburgh and Jagger in performance. remember their flat was all incense, dark corners, candles and gossamer lace over lamp shades. Curtains barely open and hash smoke filtering the light. Guess that would make me the James foxx character, being the common spotty common oik from the council estate. Was good fun as I recall, night tripping in Canon Hill Park. Was in a band with em' fer a while, till it trailed off. Good Times!

Coil - Live Netherlands
Enjoyable performance, if not their best.

Peel Dream Magazine - Modern Meta Physic
Possibly wearing their influences a little too heavily on their sleeve, but still digging this Stereolab/Broadcast-esque record. Some good stuff on here.

Bauhaus - Bela Session EP
Not essential, but enjoyable. Nice to finally have the 'proper version of the Bela 12" on a CD after all these years.

VA - Sammlung; Elektronische Kassettenmusik, Düsseldorf 1982-1989
I remember the cassette scene was huge when I was a kid on the more experimental electronic scene, but pre-internet, it wasn't always easy to get hold of, esp music from Europe. Beurea B have been releasing some interesting electronic comps of this stuff of late. Synth pop to Cabs/ TG esque noises. Good Stuff!
ADD - Dörper's Dream...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3kg4JyZl0WA
Le Petit Mort - Geheimes Wissen ...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g3z6uMSw7g0
Mentocome - b6 ....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-w-4PEGvY0

Gary Numan - Dance
Was never my fav as a kid, prob cos' it sounded nothing like it predecessor 'Telekon'. Think the fact that Mick Khan was on board meant he was trying for that Japan kinda vibe, but revisiting recently, not totally successful, but it still has a few good tracks on it.

Other than that, it's been Shuffle track skippery for the rest of the week. Which is kinda nice, in that sometimes it throws up interesting stuff you'd forgotten about.

Anyhow, keep warm and have a good en'.
