Gorman has removed this photo set because of a major row he had with various people.

Ha!

Ghastly has commented.

The penny has dropped, Gorman has rather sheepishly removed them. But not fully has he grasped the point.

As now observed by Private Eye.

The Rat Scabies tattoo design that appears in Paul Gorman's Barney Bubbles exhibition has been presented upside-down not only in the show itself, but also in the £5 booklet and on the £15 t-shirt.
I hope that if Rat ever decides to get this tattoo done he doesn't make the same mistake!

£5 booklet?

I got diddled then, it was presented at £6!

Yes it was £5 at the exhibition.

If you turn the design around the right way, you'll see that the chain links form an abstract rat's face; the stars are the eyes, there are two sticky-up ears, and a pointy nose! And of course, the words read from left to right.

Just seen it on correctly on 'Christophers' facebook page. It really is a superb design. A triumph indeed.

To me it feels like Barney Bubbles is being turned into processed cheese. There were probably moments in his own lifetime when he felt like that.

If there is anything which stinks is this. Paul Gorman has decided to sell (eBay item 190487448461) the unsold stocks of this T Shirt. Furthermore he tries to make the excuse:

"For this shirt, the logo has been inverted so that the rat stares up at the wearer".

You would have thought Gorman the author of a book on Barney Bubbles would have understood what the artist intended when creating a piece of work, let alone making the mistake of making it one of the few of many examples of BB to make his exhibition catalogue, and one of the fewer to be printed as a piece of merchandise.

Even Rat Scabies knew which way up it is (as seen on his facebook page) and despite this Gorman tells us on his flickr account:

"The design is inverted.Rat has given it the thumbs up and if you look down at your own chest you have a rat staring you in the face..."

This is a shame. Clearly, to me, the excuse is just that, an excuse, and I would be surprised if anyone would think otherwise. It was upside down in the catalogue and the exhibition when I went (but there were no instructions to read the catalogue upside-down and walk about the exhibition on my hands) At my age I could probably do the former given a bit of time, but the latter is totally out of the question! And as a stand-alone idea, the idea of printing it upside-down on a t-shirt so it 'looks up to you' comes across as weak.

I think the people behind this may have been better just to cut their losses as it calls a lot of other things into question too.
