I was lucky enough to see them at the Hammersmith Odeon in October '90 and they played all of Bossanova. Absolutely amazing, and even better live than on the records which I adore. The Pixies were one of those rare bands that I was lucky enough to be around at the time with and fall head over heels for. They just came on and rocked so fucking hard with no fussy shit. That bass sound was utterly phenomenal! I'll love 'em till I drop.

EDITED, for accuracy after all this time :-).

My sentiments exactly! I saw them on that tour too - I THINK it was at Brixton but we're talking many years ago so my recollection might not be that accurate, but yeah, the pure energy of their performance was utterly mind-blowing - I sat through the gig bearing a striking resemblance to a startled goldfish!

Oooh another corker! Actually I don't THINK I've ever heard anything bad by them, and if anyone knows any bad records by them don't tell me, I don't wanna know!

I remember watching Eraserhead for the first time about ten years ago and remarking to a friend when the Radiator Lady came on and did the In Heaven song that the Pixies should do a cover version of that track. Little did I know that it was a live favourite of theirs. Click here for a pretty intense version of the song; it starts off with a bit of a Buster Keaton moment when Frank Black accidentally swings his guitar into his own face. Ouch.

I've never seen that before. Thanks. Intense, for sure and completely right for them. I can feel a David Lynch evening coming soon.

Frank Black certainly knows how to do intense, doesn't he? Marvellous stuff!
