That's worrying, AQK! Read this article about rock'n'roll and serial killers, and see why! ; )

It includes...

"Denis Nilsen would play Laurie Anderson's O Superman after a killing (Den was more highbrow than the others)".

There's a certain resemblance to Pete Docherty there, albeit a PD wearing a ginger wig.

There's some great quicksilverish guitar on this from BObby Beausoleil among Manson's own croonerish songs. Also some very strangely structured stuff like Garbage Dump & Arkansas Man. I love CEase To Exist which the Beach Boys reworked.

I agree, Bobby Beausoleil - great player!

Here's the Beach Boys doing their version of Manson's 'Cease To Exist'

The band I used to be in once wrote to Nilsen following a newspaper story that mentioned he wrote songs, including one about Jeffrey Dahmer. we were asking if we oculd record some of them. Never got a reply, but it did earn us about five minutes of notoriety in the Evening Times.

I agree. All sorts of stuff I love is panned by others as just weird.* It's not to me, though. Weird to me is listening to Robbie Williams records over and over again.

* To give people their due, or at least the people I know, they can get into this stuff when they give it a chance... Or maybe they're just saying that to make me happy!

Don't know about "weird" but here are a few I dearly love that have annoyed the wife, family, friends, etc., when I have tried playing them in the car:

Captain Beefheart - Trout Mask Replica

Faust - The Faust Tapes [lots of other krautrock too]

Magical Power Mako - Magical Power [though my wife loves the song "Open the Morning Window..."]

Jacques Berrocal [et al] - Musiq Musik

Ornette Coleman - Body Meta [but I only really, really love the first track]

There're probably loads more which I'm not recalling.

Well there are loads of obscurities mentioned already for sure, many of which I'd've went for, but I'll be less predicatable and go for the 1st Roxy Music album!
It's got the strangest intro to any album on earth, and 'Ladytron'...it just sounds like it's from another planet it. Their singles output (which for many years informed me) belies just how wonderful they were, but I do much prefer their Eno years.
