With pleasure. ;) On the other hand, if you say you haven't come to the same conclusions as Hancock it's not a million miles from my own view that he peddles bollocks. I accept he may have stimulated your interest but John Wyndham stimulated mine but triffids are still not real!

I've read a couple of his books in the hope that there'd at least be something original contained within, Sign and the Seal was a load of hackneyed, ill-informed twaddle and Fingerprints of the Gods was a rip off Erich Von Daaniken. Amazing that all his books claim knowledge about the origins of mankind and lost civilisations but none actually provide any evidence. As Nigel said he "writes stuff to extract money" and I'll take my hat off to him, he's very good at it.

I’ve not read ANY of his books! Whatever one might think I don’t think he’s out to actively deceive..rather reignite a sense of wonder..and an interest in prehistory! I’m starting to hate the word evidence. One can only look at other people’s ‘evidence’ and make judgements from that yourself.

I don't dismiss anything he says, as simply we don't know about our own origins that well, but he does tend to bang on a bit about a lost civilisation but misses the whole point of what it is he's talking about as he's basically borrowing from other people. You're not missing anything by not reading his books. I only read the ones I have because I was interested in other things and thought they may bring something new. They did not.

I think I like such as Graham for making the past/existence seem like a far more ‘magical’ place/thing..and still potentially is today. It’s all very tantalising..but as has been said some ‘conclusive’ evidence would be handy.

No evidence is conclusive but persuasive would be nice.

I think you have a point in that they're entertaining, and if they get people looking for themselves then they serve a positive purpose. It would be nice to see him actually come up with something new instead of regurgitating what others have already written about (in some instances claiming they're new when they're not as he does in Fingerprints of the Gods and Sign of the Seal) years beforehand. If I see a book of his going cheap I may pick it up, I have Magicians of the Gods here, which I found in a charity shop for 10p. I may get round to reading it at some point but not going to miss anything if I don't as I've probably heard about it all before.
