That's the PDF week 1 update from here http://www.english-heritage.org.uk/server/show/nav.17511 that doesn't seem to be working.

"The end 500mm of an antler pick".

That's one hell of a big deer!

A 500mm antler tip.

Who does their measuring? What else have they measured wrong?

EH really know how to inspire confidence.

Did anyone take any photos of the removal of the tyres?

Jeez - an exercise in incompetence. But it really is worrying - what next?

By the way, though there's no parking around Silbury it is possible to park at the Red Lion (£2 for four hours I think) or at the Waggon and Horses provided you buy something there. The road from the Waggon is a bit dangerous to walk along though so anyone doing that should be extra careful - you wouldn't want to get hit by an English Heritage 'expert' - though they might see that as one way of keeping us quiet ;-)

Can't believe I'm the only one to 'Ask the Experts' and get a reply from English Heritage.

Contrary to what EH say on their Ask the Experts page at http://www.english-heritage.org.uk/server/show/nav.17513 that, "We will post some of the questions here, together with answers from the archaeologists and engineers working on the project." nothing has so far appeared on that page. EH also say, "Please note, we cannot reply to every e-mail individually." Strange, that's exactly what they seem to be doing! It's the oldest ploy in book - secrecy.

May I suggest that anyone who does ask English Heritage a question and who does get a reply (and if that question and reply does not appear on the EH Ask the Expert page) that they consider posting it here so we can all see, openly, what is going on.
