Julian in the Cowgate

Very enjoyable night in Embra with Himself last night. Fab set including a blistering take on "The Great Dominions". It was also Mrs HD's first evening in the company of The Drude. She was very impressed. A copy of Mick Goodby's poetry was picked up and shall nestle next to 131 and Head-On on my bookshelf. TMA doesnt fit on that shelf and has a bespoke area of storage.
We'd slinked into a nifty wee parking spot on the dog-leg of Guthrie Street and were just heading round to the venue when we were stopped by a lost person. She asked if I knew where La Belle Angele was? I replied that I certainly did and was she perchance going to see the esteemed Mr Cope? She explained that her son Tom Hickox was opening for Julian! We duly escorted the proud mum round to the venue. Tom did open for Julian and a fine job he did too.
I realised while I was watching Mr Cope that I had been to see him over many decades and that due to some weird mathematical algorhythm, I had seen him in the late 70's, 80's, 90's, 00's and whatever the thing is we are in now. That is five decades. And I'm only 53. I tried to puzzle the Maths of it out as I drove home to the dark heart of South Lanarkshire after the gig. Still doesn't seem right.
