She asked if I knew where La Belle Angele was? I replied that I certainly did and was she perchance going to see the esteemed Mr Cope? She explained that her son Tom Hickox was opening for Julian! We duly escorted the proud mum round to the venue. Tom did open for Julian and a fine job he did too.
Tom is the son of Richard Hickox, a conductor who at some point in his career was artistic director at the Northern Sinfonia Orchestra who my dad played for. Apparently he came round to our house when I was v young. So I had a brief chat with Tom at the merch store. His dad passed away 8 years ago unfortunately - I remembered seeing his obituary but thought it was only a few years back. I think his mother was a musician as well.
