Re: How the albums were made

I haven't listened to him for a while either, & I do have stuff on CD too. I too prefer the earlier Van, & haven't seen him live for years. He played King George's Blackburn ages ago with such a young band, none of em looked above 20,can't remember if Georgie Fame was with em or not & they were transcendental. He had a woman chucked out for dancing though & insisted on the house lights being kept on! Once in Manchester I think when during the encore he marched off stage still belting it out, up the aisle past the audience & into the foyer; the crowd went mental! He's a wizard! The way he builds it up to an ecstatic crescendo is like nothing else.
But as I said before a few of my nearest & dearest present time don't feel it & this does puzzle me. It seems to be either love him/ hate him. They just think he's boring! What!

Just spotted it. I think there were two sets, and that one is on 6music(?) iPlayer too. Expect this telly one'll be on iPlayer too afterwards.

I couldn't really work out where the concert was held from what I could remember of Cyprus Avenue which i thought was right in the heart of the Holy Land area of student/alternative housing down near the Botanical gardens in Belfast.
Seemed like a strange place to hold it beyond the name.
MIght have thought they'd hold it in a place more like the Botanical gardens which would have held a larger al fresco audience.

But I always had the Van Morrison track in mind when I was around the area, or am I just getting confused with Fitzroy Avenue which was the location that Madame George was supposed to live on. & I actually stayed on for a few weeks.

It was 25 years ago when i was around the area so could just be me thinking of the wrong one.

EDIT
yeah probably just thinking Fitzroy, Cyprus Avenue is 13 minutes by car from there apparently. Probably why it's 'far on Fitzroy' if I'm hearing the lyric right. Hopefully the Deluxe edition will come with a lyric sheet, maybe even maps of the area :-)

I just read an announcement in Record collector that looks like there will be expanded physical copies of these 33 lps being put out. that's in the new Kinks cover edition so I'm assuming it is an update on the streaming/download release which happened in August.
