Good call! Haven't heard that for ages, must dig it out.

That sounds good. Never heard of these XTC dub releases until today. Looks like they are currently unavailable but I am sure I can find copies somewhere.

Think I've got the vinyl somewhere - I hope so! Will have to check tonight.

Two that immediately spring to mind:

Jerry Garcia - Garcia
Bob Weir - Ace

There is apparently a compilation cd but isn't available even digitally.

Lostboy aka Jim Kerr (Simple Minds) (bias I know)
Dan MacCafferty (Nazareth)- self titled album and Into The Ring
Jeff Lynne (ELO)- Armchair Theatre
Mik Kaminski (ELO) Violinski - No Cause For Alarm (apart from Clog Dance a fairly decent album)

Will Sergeant has released a fair few solo albums outside of the bunnymen.

3 or 4 as Glide - Space Age Freakout is the best of those

Themes for Grind - from the late 70s/early 80spretty claustrophobic stuff

1 as William Alfred Sergeant - an acoustic album

The opposite of this is the 1 released as Poltergeist - Your Mind Is a Box a guitar driven instrumental album - big sound, long songs...

He also appears on You Have Just Been Poisoned by the Serpents... an odd, sprawling, psychedelic album featuring members of super furry animals and gorkys

I'd love to hear an album by him and Julian, if such a thing were possible.

Mick Harvey released two albums of serge gainsbourgh covers while still in the bad seeds, as well as playing in crime and the city solution

Gruff Rhys has released some solo albums while still in super furry animals

First one that came to mind; though it's not actually a solo album I suppose...

David Byrne's collaboration with Brian Eno (My Life In The Bush of Ghosts) was recorded when he was still with Talking Heads. Great, great record.

The Dukes of Stratosphear stuff is great. It's done as a homage to various 60's groups, Beatles etc. Still got mine on CD, but don't know how you'll get it now.

Not sure whether David J's solo albums would fit this ... 1st one was post-Bauhaus and the others have been while Love and Rockets were on hiatus. All excellent though.

I figure that David Thomas's side projects either happened while Pere Ubu was broken up ... or aren't really solo works.
