New:
Deradoorian – The Expanding Flower Planet. Bjork meets Can fourth world exotica from ex-Dirty Projectors lady. The new agey sentiments grate a little, but there’s some nice, inventive stuff here, particularly this: https://soundcloud.com/anticon/deradoorian-a-beautiful-woman-1
Schnellertollermeier – X. My, that name just trips off the tongue. Intense math-jazz-rock from Swiss power trio.
Zone Six – Love Monster. From the ever consistent Sulatron, another of Dave Schmidt’s bands. Heavy psych that’s about groove rather than grind, rather good: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rY0eYW2FaFs
Not new:
King Crimson – In the Court of the Crimson King / In the Wake of Poseidon / Thrak / The Construkction of Light. Having a bit of a KC blow-out, and trying to acquaint myself with later material ahead of the live shows in September. I’m sure it’s been noted before, but side 1 of ITWOP is a weird mirror image of ITCOTCK’s first side, right down to ‘Epitaph’ and ‘In The Wake Of Poseidon’ having exactly the same drum sound and tempo – evidence that Fripp hasn’t always been immune to giving the people what they want. Of the later stuff, ‘Prozakc Blues’ from TCOL has made the most impression: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gr5eBnCwMOY
Edgar Broughton Band – In Side Out / Oora. Yeah, diminishing returns as they go on, but perfectly pleasant all the same.
