Roy Harper - Stormcock
Airbourne - Black Dog Barking
Miriam Jones - Between Green & Gone / Fire Lives
Gordon Giltrap & Oliver Wakeman - Ravens & Lullabies
Ancient Wisdom - Deathlike
The Devil's Blood - III
Greylag - st (warmed to this a bit more(
Subversion - Animi
Plastikman - Closer
Squarepusher - My Red Hot Car (remixes) Glorious insanity

Bong - We Are, We Were, We Will Have Been. Another 2 lengthy tracks offering of Bongment. Very good, and the second track in particular, is rather lovely, being that it operates at the lighter, trippier end of things

The Darkness - Last of Our Kind. This is utterly splendid and wonderful, having some of their most heavy stuff yet on it, but the catchy hooks riffery are still present. It rocks mightily and I shall love them for doing so. Yes, there is absurdity in there, but it is the genuine love of rock that powers what you hear and that is the driving force and the devil really is in the details. I really liked "Hot Cakes", but this is properly AWESOME!

Rick Redbeard - No Selfish Heart
Groan - The Divine Right of Kings

Also, live -
Kate Ashton-Butler
Foxtales
Polly & The Billets Doux. all at the The Eagle, Salford. Top night of music, last Thursday.

Miriam Jones - at Gullivers, last Sunday. An occasional photo client, chum and quality singer/songstress. I really like her voice. Just her and her geetar and a bass player, and I really liked the songs in this stripped down format.

Missed that off my list - gave it a spin earlier today. Seeing them at the Lexington a week Monday.

That'll be brilliant! I love the Lexington, possibly my fave venue. Me, I'm trying to lay off the gigs while I'm doing my yoga teacher training - but Raw Power has given a welcome injection of noise to my year!

What were your highlights of Raw Power?

Didn't see a bad thing while I was there, so hard to pick the best. Gnod were astounding, in whole new unexpected ways (yes, even after hearing Infinity Machines), as always! Luminous Bodies were flipping wonderful, what a way to start the festival - more energy than Dungeoness, and twice as toxic. Sex Swing were dirty and like an unstoppable lorry on an oily road. Pharaoh Overlord brought a big silly grin to my face with their repeato riffs and synchro moves, and Earthless, well Earthless were breathtaking. And there was more...

Wish I'd had the energy to stay for the last day (I sooooo wanted to see Blown Out, and by all accounts Circle were a gas), but I was utterly wiped by Sunday morning!
