I love the second side of Closer, but somehow Side 1 always feels let down by the opening Atrocity Exhibition. I think it's the production on the drums, or something (because it's a great song).

My Holy Triumvirate are Cope, Miles Davis and Brian Eno. So near perfect albums would be:
Jehovah Kill
Most of the Electric period Miles
The first 4 Eno albums

But there are many others to take into consideration that i can't be bothered to list.

"Forever Changes" and "Neu! '75" are both pretty much perfect to my ears. If could criticise one thing about "FC" it's be the mix, but somehow that feels like comlaining about a half-inch paint chip on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.

Indeed. Great album, and all the b-sides from that period were ace too.

Too many near perfect albums to mention, perfect ones are altogether more rare.

Perhaps the most recent one for me is Rome by Danger Mouse & Daniele Luppi. It truly is a wonderful thing.
