They played a metal fest here in England over the summer. I really hope they weren't given the Daphne & Celeste at Reading treatment, as they're way better than most legit metal bands I've heard.

I genuinely love Idol Poppers Bis's collab with old-time Japanese Harsh Noise vets Hijokaiden, Bis Kaiden. It was one of my fave releases of last year. Here's their Jun Togawa cover: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjVT-jsiPnw

No, no, no, no, no. I don't need an argument, although I'll provide one if you want.

that works in a strange way, not sure if I knew what she was singing it would be so good but it certainly covers a lot of bases

Jun Togawa who wrote the original is a smart cookie. She's covered Slapp Happy, V.U. etc. and is one of the original and most important Japanese pop subverters. I'm not sure, had she not been around, so much J-pop would be so inherently weird. Here's the original (with some dodgy google-translated lyrics): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c45a1WTr-wY

OK, It's pop or plastic metal. 1) It's not very good. 2) It's manufactured by the music biz. 3) They have metal musicians behind them old enough to be their grandfathers. 4) Are they X - Factor rejects? 5) See (1). It's not very good. 6) Are they being exploited?. 7) They are nowhere near as good as Shonen Knife. 8) I rest my case (see 7)!
