Because it wasn't given away , it was forced on people. And not for free as Apple paid U2 an undisclosed sum and apple spent $100million plus on advertising, advertising disguised as philanthropy

plus the album is shite, this is said as someone who actually quite likes U2 it really is a bland flatline of turgid bollocks that makes Coldplay seem like a good idea
