I have been slowly reading my way through the new "MWSTW - Bowie in the 70s" book which is to DB what "Revolution In The Head" is to The Beatles so it has been 70s Bowie week all week. I especially enjoyed Sunday Concert June 1971 Bowie at the Beeb and Man Who Sold The World Overall been really busy running around for work with not much time for listening for pleasure but I am still getting into Squid's magnum opus (he has made some of the best music for tube journeys I find) and I have also been playing bits of the Celibidache Russian Orchestral music set and the Ravel recordings in the EMI Celi set.

Get The Blessing: 'Bugs in Amber' ≈ Many thanks, Moon Cat. This is getting better and better with each listening!! Secret Machines: ÷ 'Now Here Is Nowhere' A debut that no band could follow. Sadly, themselves included. David Bowie: 'Ziggy Stardust (Alt. Version)' ∞ A compilation by a dedicated enthusiast replacing each track with whatever alternative version they can source, be it radio sessions or demos. I also have their live version, too. Nice work. Available as a download from some blogspot site, somewhere. Apollo 440: 'Dude Descending A Staircase' ≥ Jazz, hip-hop and completely brilliant knockout rock-outs. Bonobo: 'Dial M For Monkey' = Cut'n'paste jazz and broken beat. Can: 'Ege Bamyasi' Dub Colossus: 'Addis Through The Looking Glass' ~ A great album, now remixed and being serialised as free, weekly downloads. Carla Bley: 'Nick Masons Fictitious Sports' ≠ This really doesn't live up to expectation, sadly - yet I still keep returning to it, hoping I'd missed something, last time. Just finished the 1969 installment of Alan Moore's League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen graphic novel. A psychedelic ripping yarn (tripping yarn?). Highly recommended to those who like their comics a bit racy and rude.

First and faraway foremost this week is the brilliant... Sky Pegs CD EP by Thought Forms. Absolutely storming this one. Unfortunately I think they've just sold out, but on the strength of it I've ordered this: http://invadarecords.bigcartel.com/product/thought-forms-self-titled-cd Solus 3 - Corner of the World Still a thing of beauty to marvel at. Gorgeous. Bass Communion - Cenotaph Nice droney thing, but not as earth-shattering as I thought it might be from Julian's review. Lovely cover, mind. MMOB - Totems 1,2,3 Psychic Ills - Hazed Dream Utopia - Ra, Oops! Wrong Planet The Cramps - Off the Bone Throbbing Gristle - 20 Jazz Funk Greats Donovan - Fairy Tale Mugstar - Serra Remix Datashock - Long titled thingie Gnod - InGnodWeTrust White Hills - Live at Roadburn, H-p1 All the above group (Mugstar, Datashock, Gnod, White Hills) of records are bloody marvellous actually.

That is a stone cold bargain at that price! I got the vinyl, and don't regret a penny of it, without doubt one of my top five albums of the year. At 5 euros that's a complete steal!
