These are what I remember this week: Wild Flag - s/t. New band of Carrie Brownstein/Janet Weiss of Sleater- Kinney. Took a few listens but liking this. Akira Sakata/Jim O'Rourke/Chikamorachi - And That's the Story of Jazz. This is pretty wild. O'Rourke seems to be channeling Sonny Sharrock and Chris Corsano always spices things up behind the kit. Jenny Hval - Viscera Angel - 26000 The Dead C - Harsh 70s Reality Blondie - s/t Television - Double Exposure (The Eno demos) Patti Smith - Radio Ethiopia Neil Young - s/t Neil Young - Everybody Knows This is Nowhere Sir Richard Bishop - Improvika Michael Garrick Trio - Moonscape Joe Henderson Sextet - The Kicker Remember Remember - The Quickening Oren Ambarachi - Triste Mazzy Star -So Tonight That I Might See Eliane Radigue - Adnos I-III. John Cage - 3, 23, 6, 26. Lasse Marhaug/Mark Wastell - Kiss of Acid Have a great week all.

redfish365 wrote: Ming, your thoughts on Religious Knives? I like it, don't love it. More spins are in order though. I see you've been playing the self-titled Graveyard opus, a gem... do you have Hisingen Blues? Love that one. Same as you really - like it, don't love it, need more listens. I'll check Hisingen Blues today, you rarely steer me wrong, bud.

Checked a bit of Beyond the 4th Door out, before catching Eternal Tapestry out on Friday just gone. Up to the usual miss peapods standard. The new promoter, BSHO have put on a couple of good gigs now - with Hiss Golden Messenger & William Tyler a couple weeks previous. A bit concerned that Friday's gig was a bit low in numbers though. Would be a shame if this kinda night wasn't viable, as there probably isn't anything of its ilk within 100 miles from where i live. Elsewhere it has been: The Charlotte Glasson Band @ St Austell Brewery Mugstar - Lime Phantom Band - Checkmate Savage Graham Nash - Songs for Beginners. A bit embarrassing really in its hippy value sincerity. Maybe more than embarrassing - maybe 'shit' is the word? Or am i being unfair? David Crosby - If only i could remember my name The Mummers - Tale to Tell MV & EE @ Miss Peapods Autumn 10'

Popel Vooje wrote: Psychic Ills : Hazed Dream Thanks to mingtp for turning me on to this one. It is indeed a sublime and spooky drone-rock listen that in places reminds me of Spiritualized before Jason attained the budget to record in a 48-track studio and decided he needed to use every one. Recommended. Hehe, that's me sold, thanks for the pointer.

Hail! Opeth - Heritage 8^) Mastodon - The Hunter. Brilliant. More concise and immediate than earlier works but no less inventive for it. The focus is intense and the delivery powerful. Another Mastobelter from a truly great band. Solus 3 - Corner of the World. I've had super-sexy sneak preview of the forthcoming album. It's really very, very good! It's got all the best qualities of the debut with nobs on. The harp is tinglier, the bass boingier - there's more clarity in the sound and it keeps that improv vibe but marries it to more hooks and grooves. This sounds like a band more than a 'project' as such and it works so well. My two faves are the dub-madrigalesque "Lollardry" and the title track which features a gorgeous vocal hook, but on the whole, it's an album to truly delight and immerse in. Sumptious; Larvely! Surtur - World of Doom. Enjoyably primitive doom! OGH! Grumbling Fur - Furrier. Steve Lacy - The Straight Horn of... Eric Dolphy - Out to Lunch KISS - Rock n Roll Over. Yeah! Van Der Graaf Generator - Godbluff Fornost Arnor - The Death of a Rose. Really good, goth tinged prog black metal that sniffs Opethwards. Like this lots! Invasion - The Master Alchemist. Insanely brill and enjoyable. Best cowbell evah! Dimmu Borgir - Abrahadabra. Black metal titans go bombastically orchestral to delightful effect. Turns out it's a great "headphones" album cos of all the symphonic twiddly bits. Ace! Coil - How to Destroy Angels. (((((shiver))))) Aliases - Safer Than Reality. New mini album from the group formed by the former guitarist of proto-djent metal titans Sikth. Insane polyrhythmic riffage. Like it lots! Wonderland - best of. I don't play this very often but when I do it makes me smile! German band take on Brit 60's Carnaby Street psychedeila and it's produced with the insane bombast of ....James Last. Hugely entertaining! Have a nice week song slurpers x
